Sensitive Skin Solutions

We meet many customers who have sensitive skin and are looking for skincare solutions.

Sensitive skin is a common condition that can be caused by a variety of triggers including genetics, environmental factors, such as weather and pollution, skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis, allergies and hormonal changes.  Individuals with sensitive skin may experience symptoms such as redness, itching, stinging, burning, or dryness.

By adopting a gentle skincare routine and avoiding known triggers, individuals with sensitive skin can help minimise symptoms and maintain healthier, more comfortable skin.

Ideally, with sensitive skin you should be looking for unfragranced products that are water free (un-aqueous) with minimal ingredients that will help maintain the skins barrier function and prevent dryness.

The main ingredient we use is Shea Butter, which is an absolute must for sensitive skin, we sell it raw in jars of 200ml, it is perfect for isolated patches or dry skin, eczema or psoriasis and can be used anywhere on your body.  Below are the many instances in which we recommend the use of Pure Shea Butter.

  • Eczema or dry skin on your eyelids – take a very small amount, melt it in the palm of hand and gently apply to your eyelid
  • Eczema or Psoriasis – melt the shea butter in your palm and apply to the affected area gently, it will keep your skin hydrated for hours and hours and unlike steroid or cortisone creams, can be applied as often as required.  The shea butter will create a protective barrier over the affected area and whilst it will never cure eczema or psoriasis it will go a very long way to soothe your skin making it less red and more comfortable.  If the affected area is quite large we recommend that you use our Cocoa Butter products as they are designed to be applied to larger areas of skin.
  • Eyebrows and the bridge of your nose – we have many gentlemen who suffer with dry skin in these areas, again just a small amount, melted and gently applied
  • Dry, cracked sore lips – apply as required. Before bed, liberally apply over your lips, the next morning you will see a great improvement.
  • Sore nose following a cold – shea butter is perfect to help heal a red nose from too much nose blowing
  • Face protection – perfect to use on your face to help protect against the wind and cold. Melt the shea butter thoroughly in the palm of your hand so that it is easier to apply, it will take a minute or two to soak in, you can apply make up after use. It will protect your skin all day long.

You can find more information about the other butters and oils we used on our ‘Back to Basics’ page.  We have carefully chosen our ingredients ensuring that they are all non-comedogenic, have anti-inflammatory properties enabling them to soothe irritated skin such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis, are antioxidant and vitamin rich.

We have increased our range of unfragranced products due to demand from customers and The Blue Lemon can now offer a top to toe skincare care and cleansing routine specifically aimed at avoiding the triggers to sensitive skin.  You view our products for sensitive skin here.
